Newnes Hotel Cabins

Historical wilderness retreat

Imagine a place without mobiles.  A place with no TV.  A place without distractions.  A place where you can just "be".  This is us - a very special place.  Switch off and enjoy undisturbed time with your family or friends.  Our guests enjoy relaxing on the verandahs, experiencing nature, playing games and sitting around the fire -

Quality time for you and the ones close to you.

…and all this in a sustainable way. We don’t have an expensive ‘Eco’ label but

  • our stand alone solar system provides 100% of our electricity

  • our sewerage is treated on property in Wisconsin Mounts, a living underground organism which chews up all sewerage waste

  • our water comes from a spring which gurgles out at the bottom of the cliff above the Hotel

  • we compost all organic waste and use it in

  • a fabulous organic garden where guests can pick whatever is in season

Everything money can't buy...

Summer is has gone and the nights get cool again. The leaves of our liquid amber tree are turning yellow and red and above is the clear blue sky. The moon has gone and the stars are clear.

Our cabins and camp ground are open but at the moment, the access into the Wolgan Valley is via the temporary ‘Donkey Steps’ (near The Wolgan Gap). This means that guests need to contact us and book in for their stay.

Guests with a 4WD or All Wheel Drives can drive down The Donkey Steps. But you can’t bring a camper trailer or caravan. Guests with a normal car, need to transfer into our vehicle and park your car safely at the top. We need to escort all guests on their way in and out of the valley because there is a gate at the top.

We are now a very exclusive place, away from the ‘huzz-buzz’ of the world. Come and enjoy it.

Newnes is always beautiful !
